In Art, we created some amazing animal prints.
We drew January to a close by creating cards for our loved ones to celebrate Grandparent's day.

Spring update in 2nd Class

Take a look below at some of our activities since returning to school in January
 - We were learning about time and measures in Maths. We were measuring things in our classroom using the metre strings. We also practiced learning how to tell the time and used many time games on the chrome books to revise the topic.
- We made lovely crafts in class to take home to our parents for Valentines Day.
- We also enjoyed the GAA movement breaks daily over 4 weeks. These movement breaks were excellent to take part in every day. They included the fundamental movement skills which are very important to us in our growing and development. The movement breaks also highlighted how exercise is important for us  and how it helps to keep us active and healthy. While doing the movement breaks we also learned some very interesting facts about the GAA and Croke Park.
 - In P. E class we have started learning tennis which we are enjoying.
 - Our class also gave a fantastic presentation on the topic of 'Antarctica' at the school junior assembly. All the children spoke their part at the assembly and did very well. Great work and well done to all!
- The children also made their First Confession on Thursday 26th February.
-2nd Class are taking part in the SDG Superhero Programme, a Global Citizenship Education initiative aimed at 2nd class pupils. It consists of interactive, age-appropriate workshops designed to increase students’ awareness and understanding of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and how they can work towards achieving them in practical ways. While all 17 SDGs are explored and linked together, there is a particular emphasis on SDG 13 – Climate Action, highlighting how tackling climate change is central to achieving the wider goals. They will learn how they can make a positive change and help the environment in their own school and communities. So far in the programme we had guest speakers to explain about the SDGs and climate change, we learned about life in Mozambique and we also planted seeds as part of our learning. For day 1 of the programme we visited Scala in Cork where we took part in many different activities and learned about the SDGs. For day 2, we had a presentation in our class about life in Mozambique and we also planted cress seeds that day.
