Thank you so much for supporting our book fair!

Picture
A very heartfelt Thank You for the wonderful support you showed for our recent Scoil Bhríde Book Fair. Your enthusiasm, participation, and generosity helped make the event a tremendous success!  We were truly delighted to see the enjoyment and excitement the children got from visiting the Book Fair over the three days.

We were able to encourage a love of reading among our students and raise valuable funds to the amount of €3941.36 that will go towards enriching our classroom libraries and school literacy resources. Seeing so many families exploring books together and encouraging their children’s excitement for reading truly made the event special.

We are grateful for the time, energy, and encouragement you continue to give our school community. Events like the Book Fair wouldn’t be possible without your support.
Thank you once again for helping us inspire lifelong readers!

Well done to both of our amazing Sciath na Scol teams who competed in the 2025 DC3 and DH3 finals in Páirc Uí Chaoimh on Wednesday 28th May.

Congratulations to our girls who battled hard and came out on the right side with a stunning victory against Gaelscoil Mhichíl Uí Choileáin on a score line of 5-05 to 1-04.

Commiserations to our boys who were defeated after a titanic battle by Ballinspittle NS on a scoreline of 1-14 to 2-07. We played exceptionally well but the rub of the green didn't go our way. The boys can be exceptionally proud of what they have achieved.

Lá glas i scoil bhríde

Bhaineamar an taitneamh as Seachtain na Gaeilge ar Scoi Bhríde.  Bhíomar ag déanamh gníomhaíochtaí i ngach rang an seachtain ar fad cosúil le biongó, tráth na gceist agus ag foghlaim dánta agus amhráin as Gaeilge freisin.  Bhí taispeántas álainn againn ag na tionóil ar Lá Glas ar an Aoine.

Our annual Lá Glas took place on March 14th and once again we painted the school green with our attire on the day!  There were excellent performances by the children at assemblies and in class activities across the entire week of Seachtain na Gaeilge to celebrate our heritage and unique language.

Our sincere thanks to the Rathcormac Men’s Shed who have spent the last two months designing and putting together a fantastic ‘fidget board’ which helps tremendously with sensory play and activities. Special thanks to Ms. Caplice and our two caretakers, Colin and Cathal, for all their hard work (Colin as a member of the Men’s Shed and Cathal who originally built the board frame). A very special week at scoil bhríde...

After 34 years of wonderful and dedicated service to the Scoil Bhríde community, Mrs. Howard is heading on retirement and to pastures new!
On behalf of the staff of Scoil Bhríde, we wish to express our heartfelt thanks to Mrs. Howard for her incredible 34 years of service. Her dedication as both a teacher and principal has been truly inspiring, and she has played a key role in shaping this school into the wonderful place it is today. Mrs. Howard’s leadership was defined by her genuine care for each student, always knowing their strengths, challenges, and hopes. She wasn’t just focused on academic success—she wanted every child to leave here feeling supported and confident.
This week’s celebration has been our way of saying thank for all you have done for us over the years.  We began marking this very special occasion as a whole school by inviting Mrs. Howard to plant a White Cherry tree at the front of our school, near the garden.

Mrs. Howard has undertaken many planting projects over her career at Scoil Bhríde, but never one in her own name and honour!

We will always think of Mrs. Howard and be reminded of the incredible accomplishments she achieved for our school over her very successful career as múinteoir agus príomhoide.
Ba mhaith linn buíochas ó chroí a ghabháil le Mrs. Howard de gach rud!

MRS Howard's final assembly & GUARD of Honour

Even nature smiled down on Mrs. Howard for her final assembly, sending her a beautiful rainbow 'tuar ceatha' to wish her the best of luck on her retirement.  The rain also held off for the whole school guard of honour, see video below.

GLOBE Air quality campaign 2024

Sixth Class have just kicked off the annual GLOBE Air Quality Campaign! We have completed the GLOBE Air Quality Survey over the past two years at our school. The experiment measures Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2) levels at three different locations (Sheltered, Car Park and Near Main Road) on our school grounds.  Nitrogen Dioxide is an air pollutant mainly associated with traffic.

This year we are again participating in the campaign to measure pollution levels in the air around our school.  We had to place the test tubes at three different locations on our school grounds and will provide samples for analysis.  The tubes will be in place for four weeks and we will take them down on October 23rd.  We are looking forward to receiving feedback on our experiment and comparing the results to 2022 and 2023 to see if the air quality around our school is improving. 🤞  In addition this year, we are also required to conduct two traffic counts and weather observations each week!  So if you see us out and about in the mornings with our clipboards, it is to collect data to help analyse and improve air quality at our school!  😁
