..and really enjoyed eating them at the end of the day!
We made our way through an obstacle course. We also got into groups to find our way to the top of the tower where we rang the bell. Ms. Barry and Emilija had plenty of helpers to help us get through!
We got to see lots of animals on the farm and got to pet a tiny white mouse!
We had a trip around on the farm train!
We showed no fear on the climbing frame!!
Fun at the playground
Finally, we got to check out the indoor play area.

We had a busy day getting through 10 Stations for sports day today. We had lots of different activities from water relays, three legged races, parachute fun, fun relay races, yoga, egg and spoon races and basketball. Special thanks to all the parents who helped us out at the stations today. It is fair to say we definitely had fun in the sun ☀️☀️
To finish off a great day, we were delighted to hear the sound of the ice-cream van coming to our school! We were very lucky and got to pick our own toppings. All of the children really appreciated their treat - it was ‘The best day ever!’
We completed a teddy bear workout with Ms. McGrath’s 6th class!
Our teddy bears enjoyed a little picnic outside with us for lunch today!
Juniors Infants had the best fun at the playground! They want to know can they go every day!!

Celebrating World Book day!📚
This week in school we have many World Book Day activities throughout the week to celebrate World Book Day on Thursday. We love books in Junior Infants. Here are some of the things we are getting up to during the week.
Monday
We read a story called ‘Fox Socks’ by Cliodhna Murphy, who is an Irish author and illustrator. Cliodhna shared a video with our school to celebrate World Book Day. After Ms. Barry read the story, we watched a short video where Cliodhna read her first book ‘ Fox Socks’. Cliodhna also described how she wrote her book.

Tuesday
Throughout the day, we played some short games called ‘Would You Rather’, ‘Guess The Book’, and ‘Guess the Fairytale’ (emoji style). We had great fun guessing and Ms. Barry was very impressed with our answers! 😀
Wally has been up to mischief in our school the past few days! We went on a ‘Where’s Wally’ hunt around the school today to see could we find him👀 We were also busy in our table groups finding Wally and his friends in different Where’s Wally Books!

Mrs. Howard came into our classroom today to read her favourite book to our class. Mrs. Howard’s favourite book is ‘Superworm’ by Julia Donaldson. We loved listening to Mrs. Howard reading.
Wednesday
We completed a World Book Day Scavenger Hunt. Our class library books were spread out on the tables in class. We searched through the different books looking for the different pictures.

Our teachers, SNAs and Anke got their photos taken with their favourite books last week. The cover of the book covered each face. We had great fun predicting who was behind the book. We even got a good few correct along the way!
Thursday - World Book Day
We dressed up as characters from some of our favourite books today and brought the book into school. All the boys and girls looked fantastic! They each described their chosen characters for the class and what book they brought in.

One School, One Book - Each teacher in the school read the story ‘The Vanishing Lake’ by Paddy Donnelly with their class today.
We met our 5th Class buddies in the halla today. We read our favourite book and shared our dress-up costume worksheet that we completed for homework. 5th class also shared their favourite books and described who they dressed up as with us too. We had a great time!
The teachers in school surprised the children today by dressing up as a crayon from the book ‘The Day the Crayon’s Quit’. We had a whole school assembly and Mrs. Howard read the story for us all.
Well done all for a fantastic effort for World Book Day 2023!

Maths
We have been busy using our 5 frames to help with our visual recognition of the components of the number. We partitioned sets of 5 using 2 different counters. We thought of some very creative maths stories as to how we made 5.
Cake SALE
The boys and girls in 5th and 6th Class hosted a Cake Sale in aid of victims of the earthquake in Turkey and Syria. Each class were given a time slot to visit the 6th class cabins. Junior Infants were super excited heading over to the new cabins. We gave our 2 euro to Ms. Barry when we arrived at the door. We then had a look around before choosing what we wanted to get.
Pancake Tuesday
Junior Infants had great fun making pancakes for Pancake Tuesday. First of all, we had a class discussion and decided what we needed to make the pancakes. Junior Infants enjoyed following the recipe and mixing all the ingredients together. The batter we made was carefully brought to the staffroom where they were made! Once the pancakes were made, we each got to choose our own toppings
P.E. wIth our Buddies
Our buddies set up different stations for us outside today. There were 4 stations : tennis, skipping, ball games and running races. We had a great time!

Lá Fhéile Bríde
Our school is named after St.Brigid. To celebrate St.Brigid’s day today, our buddies helped us to design St.Brigid’s cloak. We then went on a tour of the school and found the St.Brigid’s cross upstairs in our school. Engraved on the cross are some of our golden rules in Scoil Bhríde.

Ipads
We used the school iPad‘s for the first time today to revise some of our work so far this year. We all learned how to open the camera app on the iPad and scan a QR code on Ms. Barry’s whiteboard. We played some phonics and counting games with our partners.

Christmas art with our buddies
Our buddies recently helped us with some painting for our Christmas Art. We made a Santa Christmas Countdown calendar and we also painted the stable where Jesus was born in Bethlaham. We were so luck as we got to do our painting in Ms. Barry's 5th Class room.
A trip to the Post Office
Over the past week, we have been busy getting Christmas cards ready for our families at home. Ms. Barry was so proud of us all for using our cursive letters in our cards. We have been working so hard in class on our writing. When our cards were ready, we each put our own card into an envelope and stuck on our home address to the envelope. We then walked to the post office where we purchased a stamp each before sending off our letters to our families in the post. We hope our families enjoy their cards.
The Toy Show comes to Junior Infants
Last week, the Toy Show came to Ms. Barry's Junior Infants. We have been talking about our favourite toys when we were a baby and now as 4 and 5 year olds. We each brought in our favourite toy to share it with the class. It was wonderful to see each child share their toy with the class. Each pupil got to pick 3 people from the audience to ask them a question about their favourite toy. We had some interesting questions and answers!!

Happy Halloween
autumn
We went on our first nature walk in Scoil Bhríde this week. We were very busy collecting items that reminded us of ‘autumn’. When we got to the ‘Hugging Tree’, we all made a wish and gave the Tree a Big hug. Hopefully all our wishes will come true!
Art
Our 5th class buddies helped us to make Hedgehogs out of clay.
Gymnastics
Meet our buddies
Our buddies from Ms.Barry’s and Mr. O’Sullivan’s 5th Class came to help us with some Halloween art this week.
Planting DAffodils
We were very lucky this week as we all got to plant our very own daffodils at the front of our school. Cathal our caretaker, dug a small hole for each pupil. Mrs. Howard gave everyone daffodil bulbs. Mrs. Howard explained to us how important it was to put the bulb in right. We were very careful and made sure the roots were going down and stem was standing up. We will be keeping a close eye for them growing next year.
