April
This month, 3rd Class have started to learn division for the first time, investigated magnets in science and had a Seo Faisean to finish their Gaeilge topic of Éadaí (clothes). Have a look at the photos below to see what they got up to!
March
World Book Week - The class celebrated World Book Week with lots of book related activities; quizzes, campfire reading, dress up day, scavenger hunts and art to name a few.
Engineer’s Week - Both 3rd Classes took part in engineering stations to mark Engineer’s Week. There was a Lego station, puzzle station, Chromebook station and an experiment station.
Planting- The class have been given the important task of planting for our school garden. They worked in pairs to plant their seeds and look after them. We can’t wait to see how their plants grow!
Seachtain na Gaeilge - The class took part in some fun activities for Seachtain na Ghaeilge. They performed a song in Irish for assemble called “An Leipreachán”, took part in a Trá na gCeist and even learned how to play some card games in Irish.
Maths (Decimals) - 3rd Class started to learn a brand new maths concept this month; decimals. After learning about them, they played a decimal board game to test their knowledge.

For the shortest month of the year, 3rd Class sure were busy! They conducted a science experiment to test the air quality at different areas around the school, they attended the delicious bake sale ran by 5th and 6th Class and they were learning how to put silly sentences together as Gaeilge as well as continuing to work hard in their other subjects. Maith siad!
Grandparents' Day / January
3rd Class got to invite their grandparents and special people into school to celebrate Grandparents' Day. They performed a poem and song for them and showed them around their classroom. 3rd Class were excellent and we were all so proud of them. Thank you to everyone who joined us in school, it was a lovely day!

SCIENCE WEEK
To celebrate Science Week, the class had a zoom call with Frances from the Blackrock Observatory on Monday. She talked all about radio waves and space. On Wednesday, the class took part in an energy workshop where they talked about climate change and even made electricity from lemons! They also completed an experiment to see whether sugar or carbohydrates are absorbed quicker in our blood and they got the chance to be engineers, using marshmallows and spaghetti to create the tallest structure they could.
GAEILGE:
This fortnight, the children have been learning all about Ar Scoil. They wrote all about their classroom now and about the classrooms in the past. Maith sibh Rang a Trí!
FOOD DUDES
The children took part in Food Dudes this fortnight. They got the opportunity to taste different fruit and vegetables each day and win some prizes. All the children were excellent to try the healthy food!

Halloween fun! 🎃
3rd Class had great fun celebrating the Halloween holidays today! They dressed up in spooky costumes, had some treats and took part in an amazing talent show!
